MARIGOT, French St. Martin, April 20,
2009.- Giovanna Pacheco, the leading
attacker of the Bermuda team in the
Norceca-A tournament of the FIVB
Women’s World Championship, was
elected as the Most Valuable Player of
the competition that concluded Sunday
night.
The Brazilian-born Pacheco was also
selected as the Best Receiver of the
ideal team in the six-team competition
that included hosts French Saint
Martin as an unofficial team.

MARIGOT, French St. Martin, April 19,
2009.- St. Kitts & Nevis prevailed in
a long battle against hosts French St.
Martin in the closing match of the
Norceca-A first round tournament of
the FIVB 2010 Women’s World
Championship.
The more experienced girls from St.
Kitts & Nevis, who finished in second
place in the official competition,
edged the young local squad by score
of 25-14, 22-25, 26-24, 22-25, 15-12.

2009.- Dominica beat British Virgin
Islands 25-10, 25-15, 25-5 and
finished in a three-way tie with St.
Kitts & Nevis and Anguilla in the
Norceca-A first round tournament of
the 2010 FIVB Women’s World
Championship all with a 2-2 win-loss
record. The losers ended with a 0-4
mark.
The team of St. Kitts & Nevis
qualified in second place due to a
better points-ratio (1.146) followed
by Dominica (1.052) and Anguilla
(0.993).

Women of Bermuda move up to Norceca's
second round |

MARIGOT, French St. Martin, April 19,
2009.- Bermuda advanced to Norceca’s
second phase of the 2010 FIVB Women’s
World Championship by sweeping
Anguilla in straight sets 25-10,
25-18, 25-18 to finish the first round
here with an unbeaten record. The
losing side closed out the competition
with a 2-2 mark.
The Bermudians now move up to the
Norceca-C tournament in Trinidad &
Tobago on May 31-June 7, joining the
teams from Netherlands Antilles,
Aruba, Suriname, U.S. Virgin Islands
and the home team.

2009.- Bermuda swept French St. Martin
25-10, 25-11, 25-13 in an exhibition
match to close the action of Saturday
night at the Omnisport Hall of
Marigot.
The Bermudians, who have a 3-0 mark in
the official Norceca-A Tournament of
the FIVB Women’s World Championship
used the game to have all their
cylinders in march for Sunday’s match
against Anguilla.

2009.- St. Kitts & Nevis swept
Dominica 25-15, 25-21, 25-16 to finish
the Norceca-A first round tournament
of the 2010 FIVB Women’s World
Championship with an even 2-2 win-loss
record. The losers stand at 1-2.
Brenda Allen Edinborough topped the
winners with 15 points and Shanicia
Dyer added 11. Ana Maria Xavier and
Lisa James each had 7 for the

2009.- Anguilla swept British Virgin
Islands 25-11, 25-16, 25-11 and
improved its win-loss record to 2-1 in
the Norceca-A first round tournament
of the 2010 FIVB Women’s World
Championship. The losers remained
winless at 0-3.
Anguilla next play against leaders
Bermuda (3-0) on Sunday and would need
to beat them by a wide margin to have
a chance for the title and the ticket
to the next round. Their current
points-ratio stands at 1.118 while
Bermuda, resting today, is 1.705.

MARIGOT, French St. Martin,
April 17, 2009.- French St. Martin won an
emotional five-setter over Dominica in the
last match of Friday in the Norceca-A
first round tournament of the 2010 FIVB
Women’s World Championship.
The local side lost to
Anguilla in their first outing last
Wednesday but recovered to beat British
Virgin Islands the following night. The
score was 24-26, 25-22, 25-19, 20-25,
16-14.
The host team
is participating in the event in
exhibition matches against the idle squad
in the five-nation elimination tournament.
The winner of it moves up to a second
round tournament to be played in Port of
Spain.

2009.- Bermuda moved one step closer
to the title in the Norceca-A first
round tournament of the FIVB 2010
Women’s World Championship with an
overwhelming victory over British
Virgin Islands on Friday.
The Bermudians increased their
win-loss record to 3-0 after their
sweeping their opponents by score of
25-5, 25-9, 25-15 in exactly 60
minutes.

St. Martin, April 17, 2009.- Anguilla
defeated St. Kitts & Nevis 3-1 to claim
its first win in the 2010 FIVB Women’s
World Championship first round Norceca-A
tournament. The score was 25-20, 18-25,
26-24, 25-22.
The winners have
now a 1-1 win-loss record while the losers
fell to a 1-2 mark in the five-team
competition that ends on Sunday.
Khalida Banks
led Anguilla with 18 points, Ludiane
Leveret Richardson tallied 15 and Marsha
Edwards and Farrah Banks chipped in 9 and
8 respectively.

competition.
The local girls, supported by the
local fans, proved to be too much for
the smaller opponents finishing them
by wide margin of 25-18, 25-15, 25-13.
One day earlier they had lost to
Anguilla in straight sets.

2009.- Bermuda swept St. Kitts & Nevis
3-0 in the second match of Day Two of
the FIVB Women’s World Championship
first round Norceca-A tournament.
The girls from Bermuda triumphed by
score of 25-14, 25-17, 25-18 improving
their win-loss record to 2-0 and took
a big step to the crown and the only
ticket available for the next phase of
the world event. They still have to
play against Anguilla and British
Virgin Islands in the five-team
official competition.

2009.- St. Kitts & Nevis gave strong
signals as one of the top contenders
for the only ticket available to the
next phase in the Norceca-A first
round tournament of the FIVB Women’s
World Championship, by recording a
straight sets win 25-10, 25-13, 25-9
over British Virgin Islands on
Wednesday night.
“We won the match but committed too
many errors, especially in our
serving,” said Steadroy Collins, the
coach of the winners. “We play
tomorrow against Bermuda and we can’t
play at this level. So definitely we

2009.- Bermuda scored an easy 25-15,
25-21, 25-18 victory over Dominica in
the first match of the FIVB Women’s
World Championship first round
Norceca-A tournament.
Giovanna Pacheco and Lianne Leonardi
were the leading scorers for Bermuda
with 17 and 14 points respectively.
Leonardi, captain of Bermuda: “It was
really a great team effort and our
side showed a lot of energy. I hope we
can continue on a roll the rest of the

Norceca-A gets underway here on
Wednesday with five teams competing in
what it is expected to be a big battle
for the only ticket available to enter
the next round to be held in Trinidad
& Tobago.
Among the participating teams,
Norceca’s sixteenth ranked St. Kitts &
Nevis is the top positioned in the
region, but Dominica and British
Virgin Islands follow very close at 17
